7 spans pedestrian bridge – Borgotaro
The seven-span bridge of Borgotaro, an impressive engineering work along 378 meters, is one of the longest bridge in curve in Europe for the time. Begun in March 1891, after the rebuilding of two arcades cut off by a flooding in the fall of the same year, it was concluded with the launch of the seven metal wires of 47.6 meters each in November 1892. Called by the locals "Iron Bridge" during the last world conflict it suffered many air strikes, both heavy bombings and low-altitude bombings carried out by bombers and allied hunters, these incursions never had the best on the majestic bridge, it was not ever completely destroyed. At the end of the conflict, despite the railway line being impracticable, unfortunately the partisans with the help of some saboteurs mined a bridge column and severely dropped a part of it. Today, this historic bridge, thanks to the works of recovery, consolidation and technological and structural modernization of the plant, can boast a new long life
