The Chilometro della Conoscenza is a stretch of the western bank of Lake Como – one kilometers long - from Villa Olmo, crossing the Bridge of the Grumello (better known as Ponte delle Conoscenza) the road to Cernobbio and passing through the municipal greenhouses and Villa del Grumello, arrives to Villa Sucota. A landscape of rare beauty, embracing the first lake basin with gardens, historical villas with their greenhouses and monuments symbol of the city, surrounded by hills of the near valleys, from Monte Piatto to Brunate until Baradello. A heritage of great naturalistic value, but also cultural and historical-artistic one, enriched by cultural activities, training and scientific research that animate the Chilometro: Villa Olmo, Villa del Grumello, Sviluppo Como, Centro Volta, Antonio Ratti Foundation with the Museum Studio del Tessuto and “Dreamers” Film School. The Chilometro della Conoscenza is promoted and supported by the Chamber of Commerce of Como in collaboration with Como Municipality, Como Province, Associazione Villa del Grumello and Fondazione Antonio Ratti and also realized with the contribution of Cariplo Foundation and the European Union, within the Regional Operational Program FESR 2007-2013 which has funded the Integrated Project of the Ecolarius Area. The objective is to spread the culture of the environment and the landscape between the lake and the mountain with the coordination of the Province of Como.
