Toy Museum - Cormaro
The Museum of Toys and Children of Cormano in the province of Milan represents one of the most important European collections of vintage Toys, the result of more than half a century of passionate research. Thousands of pieces, displayed as a routed pattern, following chronological and thematic paths. Three centuries of history, from the 1700s to the 70s of the twentieth century, to protect and preserve the memory of childhood. The exhibition also includes numerous finds, documents, records. Strictly original and perfectly functioning the toys investigate every aspect of play: dolls and soldiers, all sorts of models, street and board games, books and comics, up to the early videogames. These are samples from all over Europe and not only, selected according to historical and cultural interest, to the rarity, but above all to their very story. Stories of children: how they lived, grew up, studied and worked; their lives in the family and out of the family. Also adult stories: the toy is never end in itself, but it is a precise and punctual witness, often ruthless. Through the observation of the object, it emerges, then, the human path. Science and art, handicrafts and industry, pedagogy and philosophy converge in the play and in the symbols of a universal language that does not know any barriers of race, language, civilization. There is an in-depth interest in the didactic paths, focused on 20 years of experience and appreciated by over half a million children. The tones and contents of guided tours are focused on the different school age, from maternity to high school. There are also routed paths for adult groups, from universities to the elderly. The trails can be combined with laboratory activities, veritable toy workshops. Thanks to the use of a wide range of aesthetically attractive and suitably prepared materials, children stimulate the imaginative, logical and practical skills, which ultimately leads to the creation of an idea. The game as an opportunity to produce culture and generate knowledge. Particularly remarkable is the reconstruction (with original furnishings) of a classroom that reminds those of Edmondo De Amicis
